from http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060623/tv_nm/futurama_dc_1:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Futurama" has a future.

Comedy Central has resurrected the former Fox animated series from "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. At least 13 new episodes will be produced -- the first since the series' original run from 1999-2003.

The new batch is part of a deal the cable network made with 20th Century Fox Television last year to pick up syndicated rights to the existing "Futurama" library of 72 episodes. Comedy Central also had an option to air any new episodes produced.

New and old episodes will begin airing in 2008 on Comedy Central. Actors Billy West,
Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio have agreed to return as voices for "Futurama."

"We are thrilled that Matt Groening and 20th Century Fox Television have decided to produce new episodes of 'Futurama' and that Comedy Central will be the first to air them," said David Bernath, senior vice president for programming at the network.

"There is a deep and passionate fan base for this intelligent and very funny show that matches perfectly with our audience, and it is great that we can offer them not just the existing library but something they've never seen as well."

"Futurama" isn't the first series to return to air after cancellation. The Fox animated series "Family Guy" returned to the network last year after getting a second wind on DVD and late-night cable.

Reuters/Hollywood Reporter

...it's that time again! That's right, 6/24 is right around the corner! We're less than a month from our 2nd annual 624 party. Everyone keep your schedule clear on June 24, cuz you're gonna be partying it up at my place. Last year we had about 75 or so people show throughout the night. we're hoping to hit 100 this time around. THere's talk of a double dare course and possibly mud wrestling, scooter rides, ddr, a fire pit, and more alcohol than you can shake a freshman at (anyone know if natty boh kegs are easily had?). What fun!

I'm lazy and haven't gotten aronud to making a proper flyer for this year's party so in the meantime, enjoy last year's!

I expect everyone who can read this to be there.
just saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with robin and jason....

man, that was a hard movie. a beautiful, amazing, i daresay excellent movie..but very hard to watch. i'm very confused as to how i feel about it exactly. i really liked it a lot, but i wouldn't say that i enjoyed the experience of it. i mean, i did... but afterward i wanted to go and drown myself or something. about halfway through the film i realized that i _really_ cared about these people. i want them to be my friends. it evoked emotions that movies never bring out in me anymore. a lot of them were not pleasent, but that actually made me like the film all the more.

i'm sure that everyone who watches it can identify with the ideas and emotions it presents. i know i certainly did. i was a bit apprehensive about watching it with robin and jason as i'm sure it dredged up a lot for the two of them considering semi-recent events.

throughout the film i was constantly struck by its beauty. the way each shot was composed, the style with which they were interwoven, it was just gorgeous. its exactly the kind of film i've always wanted to create.

it was an interesting experience watching this movie today. earlier in the day i was thinking about how happy have been with where i am in life lately, and here's this movie that could have been a HUGE downer, and it was in some aspects, but i found it more curious than anything. instead of becoming really depressed, it made me extremely introspective.

...and yes, i realize i'm about 2 years too late here, but fuck off. i was rather moved by this film and felt compelled to write about it.

Decode the following, then tell me what the quote is from and you win. I'll give you a major hint, the first part is encoded using a base64 cypher but the 2nd uses something different (but that should be obvious.) There is no such thing as 2.

Good Luck!:

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

01010111 01101000 01101111 01011100 00100111 01110011 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01101101 01101111 01110010 01100101 00100000 01100110 01101111 01101111 01101100 01101001 01110011 01101000 00111010 00100000 01010100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100110 01101111 01101111 01101100 00101100 00100000 01101111 01110010 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100110 01101111 01101111 01101100 00100000 01110111 01101000 01101111 00100000 01100110 01101111 01101100 01101100 01101111 01110111 01110011 00100000 01101000 01101001 01101101 00111111

(someone please respond, i promise its fun)

I'm trying to restrain myself from just buying and downloading their tracks as I'd really prefer to own the physical disc w/ liner notes and all... Might be a bitch to find tomorrow given that its an import and what with the snow... but we'll see.

....just had to share...

EDIT:
1 hour later... add The All Seeing I to the list of "great music from 5 years ago that i'm just discovering tonite"....though I can't seem to find a website for them :( (there is one from a shitty looking death metal band of the same name but....screw that)

INFAMY!

TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES:

"Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to the Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese Government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. Very many American lives have been lost. In addition American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya.

Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong.

Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam.

Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.

Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island.

This morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

As Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.

Always will be remembered the character of the onslaught against us.

No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces - with the unbounded determination of our people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December seventh, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire."

-- President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, December 8, 1941.

    <lj:music>drunken conversation growing progressively louder</lj:music>

Last Thanksgiving on this day I was here:

Doing this:

...on Thanksgiving day I worked 18 hours without even a bathroom break. I went to sleep in my bunk having only eaten a single bowl of ramen noodles and nothing else. The following day, after working 14 hours, we ate a bowl tray of baked spaghetti topped with slices of american cheese with 2 sticks of butter melted on top.... that was my thanksgiving dinner, eaten 1 day late, while exhausted soaking wet, and freezing... in a word, it sucked.

This year, my biggest problem is listening to my mother's friends get progressively more and more inebrieated.. Its amazing to think of all that has occured in the year inbetween. There's been ups and there's been down, but overall I hafta say that the last year was fun as hell! Thanks to everyone who helped to make it such.... here's hoping that we'll all have many many more!
